CHAINSAW SAFETY

A course on proper chainsaw safety on construction worksites provided by Essential Safety Services.

Course Description:

Basic chainsaw safety is essential to keep workers safe from hazards that the chain saw presents. While the chainsaw is relatively easy to operate, it can be a very dangerous tool to use.

Participants in the Chainsaw Safety course will learn how to safely handle, operate, and maintain a chainsaw.

Course Content:

This course consists of a combination of classroom and outdoor hands-on learning activities.

  • Chainsaw Hazards, Injuries and Causes
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safe Handling of Chainsaws
  • Safety Features
  • Basic Saw Operations
  • Maintenance and Service

Who Should Attend:

All workers who work with chainsaws must be trained in proper use. (O. Reg. 213/91, section 112)

Participants must wear appropriate clothing, as well as CSA-certified head, foot, and eye protection. We ask that you bring your own personal protective equipment (PPE).
