Essential Safety Services course on proper Back Care and Material Handling in the workplace..

Course Description:

Nearly 25% of lost time injuries are related to the back. Many of these result from lifting excessive weight or lifting incorrectly.

To reduce back injuries on the job, a preventive program is necessary, covering points such as; anatomy, risk factors, workplace posture, lifting techniques, ergonomics and exercise. This Back Care & Material Handling course is designed to provide the basic information for an effective back care program.

Course Content:

This course consists of a classroom component only.

  • Spine and muscles.
  • Posture
  • Proper lifting techniques
  • Risk factors for low back injury.
  • Back care & ergonomics.
  • Materials handling equipment.
  • Exercise and stretching

Who Should Attend:

This course is for anyone who is lifting or handling materials. (O. Reg. 213/91)  (R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 851)
